What is HIV?

 HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus. HIV is the virus that causes AIDS. HIV attacks the immune system. Once HIV gets in the body, it can start making copies of itself. As more HIV builds up, it gets harder for the immune system to do its job. 

 What is AIDS? 

AIDS stands for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. AIDS is diagnosed by a physician only when a patient is in the late stages of HIV infection. The body’s immune system can no longer fight disease.

How is HIV spread?

HIV is spread by having sex with a person who has HIV, blood-to-blood contact, sharing needles or from a mother who has HIV
to her baby. 

How can HIV be prevented?

Postponing sexual contact until you and your partner have discussed sexual history, always use a latex condom properly, and use clean needles.
